The Cree tribe who had lived on forested lands formed their habitats using the birch bark wigwams also known as wetus. In that area birch bark was bountiful. The Cree who had lived in the plains mostly hunted buffalos for their food. But aside from that they also hunted other animals such as the deer, elk, bear and wild turkey. Their healthy diet was accompanied by the plants and some herbs including the roots, wild fruit, and vegetables.

The Woodland Crees’ food was mostly fishes and some small animals such as the squirrel, deer, raccoon, bear, and beaver. They also planted and harvested some kinds of plants and vegetables like corn or maize, pumpkin, squash, and beans.

There were leaders who had done something in the past that makes their people remember them. The seven most famous leaders and chiefs in the Cree society were Chief Poundmaker, Chief Big Child, Starblanket, Flash in the Sky, Chief Big Bear, Chief Fine Day and Chief Cut Nose. To be perfectly honest, the names of their chiefs were somewhat unique in a certain way.

Most of the weapons that they used varied according to the available materials that can be found in their area. Some of it includes bows and arrows, a number of different clubs, some hatchet axes, spears, lances, and knives.

Cree tribe Clothing

The tribe wore a different style of clothes. They have clothes for warmer days and clothes for the colder days. During the warm climates, they dressed in breechcloths. But during the colder days, they wore some kind of fringed tunics or shirts and long leggings to cover their bodies. When it is raining or the climate is very cold, they used warm robes and clothes to protect themselves. There were some members of the tribe that wore fur caps or leather caps that was designed with some beautiful feathers. Also, sometimes they wore feather war bonnets and porcupine roach headdresses.
